HOW DID YOU BREAK INTO THE INDUSTRY AND LAND YOUR FIRST JOB?
I took a very traditional route breaking into the industry and landing my first job. While pursuing my degree, I gained real-world experience as an intern with Hirons. Once I graduated, I signed on for my first full-time role as a digital and development specialist.
WHAT PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS DO YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE INDUSTRY?
I believe soft skills are extremely important when working in an agency. They help build working relationships and encourage teamwork!
OUTSIDE OF THE OFFICE, WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR HOBBIES OR PASSIONS?
Outside of the office, I spend a lot of time outdoors. I especially love spending time outside with my pets and reading. For example, my cats love to spend time in their outdoor tent while I read.
WHAT’S ONE IMPORTANT TIP YOU WOULD SHARE WITH ANYONE LOOKING TO GO INTO THE AGENCY WORLD?
One tip I’d share with anyone looking to get into digital and web development is to keep up with technological advancements. The tech world is constantly changing and advancing, therefore it’s important to stay up to date by prioritizing professional development and personal learning.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE TIME OF DAY?
My favorite time of day will always be mornings! I thrive on a very strict and structured routine.
WHAT IS THE MOST MEANINGFUL PART OF YOUR JOB?
The most meaningful part of my job is seeing the final product out in the world. It’s fulfilling to see websites, billboards, animated ads etc. in action, especially if I played a large part in the project.
WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST JOB?
My first job was at Plato’s Closet as a sales associate and social media coordinator. I really enjoyed being a social media coordinator and continued with the position at my next job.
WHAT’S AN ACCOMPLISHMENT YOU’RE PROUD OF, PERSONALLY OR PROFESSIONALLY?
My biggest accomplishment is being a first-generation college graduate. I am most proud of this accomplishment because I successfully obtained my degree while experiencing the COVID-19 pandemic.
WHAT’S ONE THING YOU DO EVERY DAY AND CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT
8 hours of sleep! I’ve always had a strict sleeping schedule to ensure I get enough rest.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE MOVIE OR BOOK?
I’m a huge fan of sitcoms. My favorite TV show is Parks and Recreation, but I also enjoy The Big Bang Theory, Schitt’s Creek, Friends & more.
