Employee Highlight: Maggie Taylor

Get to know our account coordinator in the communications management department, Maggie Taylor!

HOW DID YOU BECOME INTERESTED IN THE INDUSTRY?

I had the incredible opportunity of growing up on the north side of Indianapolis and attending Carmel High School where I had the chance to take marketing classes. I fell in love and basically knew that this is what I wanted to do at the age of 15. Once arriving at the University of Cincinnati, I took an interest in the writing and strategic communications aspect of marketing which ultimately led me into public relations as a career choice. Agency life has always been intriguing to me as a fast-paced, outgoing individual.

WHAT WOULD YOU CONSIDER THE MOST IMPORTANT TOOLS OF THE TRADE?

Being personable and compassionate. I believe that the expectation of how we treat each other as people is changing. I want everyone that I interact with to feel heard and listened to.

OUTSIDE OF THE OFFICE, WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR HOBBIES OR PASSIONS?

I love to work out, cook, and read. I am also an avid podcast listener – some of my favorites are Armchair Expert, Smartless, and Morbid. I am always looking for suggestions. I also love terrible reality television.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE TIME OF DAY?

I am totally a morning person; I like to have my entire day to experience everything. There’s just too much to do to sleep it all away. I can be a little chatty in the morning, just a fair warning if you stop by my desk first thing.

WHAT IS THE MOST MEANINGFUL PART OF YOUR JOB?

Any opportunity I get to better the community is incredibly exciting and rewarding. It always results in feeling fulfilled, proud of the work I do and the organization that I am a part of.

WHAT’S AN ACCOMPLISHMENT YOU’RE PROUD OF, PERSONALLY OR PROFESSIONALLY?

I am proud of my previous involvement with the St. Jude Dream Home campaigns at my former internship. We were able to assist in giving away three beautiful homes across the Midwest and raising millions of dollars for curing childhood cancer. It was such an incredible feeling to give back to the communities that we were a part of. I also had the chance to connect with patients’ families, making it truly a life changing experience and one I will never forget.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE RESTAURANT IN TOWN?

Bodhi on Mass Ave. I tried it when I moved back to town and now, I dream of their yellow curry regularly. I couldn’t recommend this charming, little spot more. On the north side, I have been loving Torchy’s!

DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN THREE WORDS.

Outgoing, passionate, and detail oriented.

WHAT’S ONE THING YOU DO EVERY DAY AND CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT?

Two things: my white noise machine and some sort of coffee. It has become a regular thing in my routine. Whether it is Starbucks or a Dunkin, I will walk in with some sort of caffeine. As for the white noise machine, sleeping is my favorite activity. It truly is a game changer.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE PART OF WORKING AT HIRONS?

So far, I have greatly enjoyed the people and the passion that everyone here has for what they do. I am looking forward to learning from everyone! I already feel welcome and valued in what I bring to the table and I am so excited to continue my journey with Hirons.
