Get to know our office manager and executive administrator, Whitney Compton.

HOW DID YOU BECOME INTERESTED IN THE INDUSTRY?
My parents were involved in the PR, advertising and marketing industry all my life. My dad was specifically involved with Indy sports teams such as the Indianapolis Ice, Indiana Pacers and Indianapolis Colts. My mom worked for WJJK, Fox Sports and the Indianapolis Business Journal. The apple apparently hasn’t fallen far from the tree.
OUTSIDE OF THE OFFICE, WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR HOBBIES OR PASSIONS?
Hanging out with my dog, Lola, aka Pie; nature; the universe; travel; supporting local businesses; playing card and board games; movies and TV shows.
HOW DID YOU BREAK INTO THE INDUSTRY AND LAND YOUR FIRST JOB?
Hard work and thoughtfulness. Being genuinely interested in people, places and things. Having passion for what I do and doing what it takes to deliver unforgettable results.
WHEN AND WHERE DO YOU HAVE YOUR BEST IDEAS?
Anytime, anywhere.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE TIME OF DAY?
Golden Hour. The period of daytime shortly after sunrise or before sunset, when the sun is between six degrees below the horizon and six degrees above. If the moon is present… bonus.
WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR FAVORITE PROJECT THAT YOU’VE WORKED ON AT HIRONS?
Friday Breakfast! Coming the from restaurant and hospitality industry, I miss feeding people! I love cooking and anything that gives people that “lake community” camaraderie. And it feels like I am on an episode of “Guy’s Grocery Games” every time.
WHAT IS THE MOST MEANINGFUL PART OF YOUR JOB?
Influencing the energy of the office. I am the first person (most) people see when they walk in and the last person they see before they go. I also like to make sure all the moments in between are filled with positivity, warmth and maybe a bit of humor or thought-provoking (yet not overly time consuming) conversations.
WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST JOB?
Limited Too. I was 15 and had to have my best friend quit for me because I was too scared. I prefer to list my true first job as a hostess at Bella Vita where I worked through most of high school.
WHAT’S YOUR MOST MEMORABLE VACATION?
Colombia! It was my first time traveling alone for at least part of the time and being in a country where few people spoke English. The food, culture and nature were beautiful. Each city I visited had such a drastic vibe to it. It was also very meaningful and transitionary time in my life to have such an experience.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE PART OF WORKING AT HIRONS?
Getting to know people and how I can make their experience in the office the best it can be.
