HOW DID YOU BECOME INTERESTED IN THE INDUSTRY?
My aunt had told me for years I should work in the industry. Once I landed my first job at an agency, I felt like I’d found my niche. So many of my interests and skills align nicely with what I do.
WHAT PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS DO YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE INDUSTRY?
I think it’s really important to always be paying attention – to trends, to the market, to what others are doing, to the details. You can store away a lot of important data just as you move through your day.
OUTSIDE OF THE OFFICE, WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR HOBBIES OR PASSIONS?
I have so many! I used to always say my hobbies were music, movies and books. Now, I would add making things – for me, that includes crafts, cardmaking, baking, LEGO, art. I’m also obsessed with pop culture. And I love my time with family and friends.
WHAT’S ONE IMPORTANT TIP YOU WOULD SHARE WITH ANYONE LOOKING TO GO INTO THE AGENCY WORLD?
This is my advice for anything really: Don’t be afraid to ask questions or do research. I’ve always enjoyed learning so both of those come naturally to me, but they’re also how I’ve learned so many of the things I know. No one can know everything so asking questions is a really integral part of growing your skills and knowledge base. And being able to share what you’ve learned with others is a real joy.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE TIME OF DAY?
I’ve always really liked late at night and early in the morning when the world is quiet and calm. Liking one or the other is pretty standard, I think. Liking both does not make for a good sleep schedule.
WHAT’S ONE QUOTE THAT DEFINES YOU?
I heard a quote secondhand once that really stuck with me – I think it’s just a thing a person said, not a quote that can be Googled or anything: I wish everything could be as wonderful as crayons. I really love that quote. Crayons represent color and creativity and are something we discover at a time when everything is still new and shiny in the world. I wish every moment in life could be like that. And, of course, anything from Ted Lasso.
DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN THREE WORDS.
Silly, observant and curious
WHAT’S YOUR MOST MEMORABLE VACATION?
In middle school, we went to Colorado and camped in Rocky Mountain National Park. Right at our campsite was this little hill, and when you climbed the little hill and looked over, WOW! The mountains were just gorgeous, and there was a valley with trees and a stream and a cabin with smoke coming out of the chimney – it was all postcard perfect and was just right there at our campsite. I fell in love with that view and wanted to bring it home with me.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE MOVIE OR BOOK?
My favorite favorite movie is The Breakfast Club, but I also just love movies in general, so I could list 25 movies that are my favorites, and the list still wouldn’t be long enough!
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE PART OF WORKING AT HIRONS?
This is an easy one: the people! We have really talented people at Hirons, which is great, but they’re also just really kind and warm people, which is even better. In my role onboarding new folks, I’m always hearing how much people appreciate how welcoming people are and just how nice and accommodating our team is. It feels good to hear every time!
