Situation
Rooted in more than a century of history, Bosma Enterprises is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating opportunities for people who are blind or visually impaired through rehabilitation, employment and training programs. Today, Bosma Enterprises is Indiana’s largest employer of workers with vision loss – more than half of its employees are blind or visually impaired. The organization is also Indiana’s largest provider of comprehensive rehabilitation programs.
Hirons has worked with Bosma Enterprises since 2017. In 2019, Bosma Enterprises engaged Hirons to develop and execute a strategic marketing and communications plan to better position its contract packaging line of business. The organization sought to diversify its customer base.
Strategy
Hirons began the process by conducting an audit of Bosma Enterprises’ existing marketing assets and brand identity, supplementing the information with secondary research. Insights gained from this research phase were used to develop a strategy for reaching potential contract packaging customers across both commercial and government sectors.
Following development of a strategic communications plan, Hirons created a suite of marketing assets, both print and digital. We optimized Bosma Enterprises’ contract packaging landing page to ensure customers engaging with the site would have an optimal user experience. We utilized a combination of paid, earned and owned media channels to position the organization as an industry leader in contract packaging and raise awareness of its capabilities. Public relations efforts focused on engaging both current and prospective contract packaging customers.
Results
The first phase of the campaign ran from late 2019 to early 2020 and generated 5,484,824 impressions, 18,205 website visits and a reach of 25,937,228. Earned and owned media efforts resulted in an advertising value equivalent of nearly $240,000.

Hirons developed a suite of creative assets to showcase Bosma Enterprises’ products and services, as well as highlight their mission.


Banner stands and an 8’ x 8’ pop-up banner were developed to garner attention of passersby at conferences and industry events. The design incorporated Bosma Enterprises’ brand while communicating its offerings to potential partners.

Digital
Hirons’ digital team refreshed navigational elements of the client’s website and developed landing pages specific to Bosma Enterprises’ contract packaging service.
