Get to know our new designer in the creative department, Aubrey Hayden.
“I have really enjoyed my time at Hirons so far, and I have been able to learn so much from everyone in the Creative department. I’m proud of the design work I’ve done and I’m excited to continue to do exciting work in the future!”
HOW DID YOU BECOME INTERESTED IN THE INDUSTRY?
I interned at a very small agency in college, and really enjoyed the close-knit team that they had and how they interacted with clients.
HOW DID YOU BREAK INTO THE INDUSTRY AND LAND YOUR FIRST JOB?
Connections! I worked with Carlee in college and our boss suggested I reach out to her about her job here at Hirons, and I’m very glad I did.
OUTSIDE OF THE OFFICE, WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR HOBBIES OR PASSIONS?
I love painting, hiking, photography, camping, reading, and I’ve been trying to get into cooking and baking!
WHEN AND WHERE DO YOU HAVE YOUR BEST IDEAS?
I can think the clearest and am most productive extremely early in the morning (like 4am). In college if I had a large project to finish, I would get up very early to work instead of staying up late!
WHAT’S ONE IMPORTANT TIP YOU WOULD SHARE WITH ANYONE LOOKING TO GO INTO THE AGENCY WORLD?
I would say it is important to keep in mind that you are not your work, and if something you make isn’t liked you simply have to adjust and move on. It doesn’t mean you aren’t good at what you do!
WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST JOB?
My first job was at a Kroger right after turning 16! I worked there for 2 years, and I’m still friends with some of the people I met there.
WHAT’S AN ACCOMPLISHMENT YOU’RE PROUD OF, PERSONALLY OR PROFESSIONALLY?
I think I’m most proud of being on the Graphic Design USA Students to Watch list for 2022! One of my professors nominated me my last semester of school, and it was a huge honor.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE RESTAURANT IN TOWN?
My favorite restaurant is Condado Tacos! They have really amazing vegetarian options and the best drinks.
WHAT’S YOUR MOST MEMORABLE VACATION?
My most memorable vacation would be the one I took abroad in high school where I was able to go to London, Paris, Florence, and Rome.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE PART OF WORKING AT HIRONS?
My favorite part so far has definitely been the people! I was very nervous going into my first “real” job after college, but everyone has been extremely helpful and welcoming here which has made this transitional period so much easier!
