Amos Brown Internship

Saluting Amos Brown’s legacy

The late radio host, columnist and philanthropist Amos Brown modeled these qualities throughout his career.

Amos Brown (1950-2015) hosted “Afternoons with Amos” on WTLC and wrote the “Just Tellin’ It” column in the Indianapolis Recorder. In 2007, Brown was inducted into the Indiana Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame and was a two-time winner of the IBA Spectrum Award. Active in Indianapolis civic affairs, Brown was a board member of the Indianapolis Urban League, Indianapolis United Way, Community Action Against Poverty and Indiana Black Expo. Brown worked with Hirons in 2010 as co-chair of the Indianapolis Census Complete Count Committee to promote census participation among residents.

It was in honor of the example he set for all of us that Hirons, Radio One, The Indianapolis Recorder and the Brown family created the annual Amos Brown Summer Internship at Hirons in 2016 to encourage students of color to pursue careers in communications and advertising.
