Servicios de Comercialización Rural

No consideres sólo las áreas no urbanas. conocerlos.

Rural Reach Icon with Shadow

High-speed internet and 5G network technology are less available in some rural areas, which can minimize the impact of digital marketing techniques if communicators aren’t intentional about the types of platforms they use for campaigns. In addition, radio and television signals are often lower quality, outdoor signage is rare, and many residents don’t have access to common advertising and public relations executions.

    Rural Reach Services

Rural marketing that starts with reality.

Reaching rural audiences takes more than scaling a strategy that works in a metro market. Rural communities vary by access, habits and the way they form trust. Rural Reach is Hirons’ unique approach to helping organizations connect with people who are often underserved by conventional marketing tactics.

Using lessons we’ve learned over nearly half a century, our Rural Reach team offers experience in understanding rural audiences and the importance of speaking to their unique identities.

The rural identity, by the numbers

Understanding rural audiences starts with letting go of assumptions. Rural America is not a monolith and connecting with a rural audience relies on not overgeneralizing. Rural Americans are proud of who they are and where they live. Respecting that helps avoid a key barrier.

Rural audiences are not a niche. In 2023, 62% of U.S. counties were classified as rural, representing nearly 46 million Americans, or about 14% of the population.

    • Nearly 40% of rural households earn under $50K
    • 33% of rural America is 55 or older
    • Nearly 14% of nonmetro residents live below the poverty level
    • About 40% of rural children under 16 live below the poverty level
    • 14% of rural households lack a computer and broadband subscription

    Rural population on the rise

Rural communities have been growing since the COVID-19 pandemic. The story of that growth is very different from urban America. Rural growth is entirely because of migration.

    • Housing prices are considerably lower in rural America.
    • The shift in remote work allows people to live where they choose.
    • Rural America has become more diverse, with the percentage of Hispanic, Indigenous and other populations rising.
    • Rural communities have kept pace with urban populations in domestic product growth and median income.

    Why rural campaigns stall

Many campaigns fall short because rural America gets treated as one audience. There is no single definition of “rural,” even across federal agencies. When access to digital, traditional media and community influence differ from place to place, an overgeneralized plan can miss the mark.

Rural Reach helps organizations bridge that gap by shaping strategies around how rural communities actually engage. Campaigns must start with identifying each rural audience and connecting with them on a targeted basis.

    What shapes messaging and trust

Rural Americans often have a strong sense of identity tied to where they live. Messaging that feels generic can create resistance instead of interest.

Trust moves through local relationships. A focus on clear communications, thoughtful channel selection and engagement will greatly impact who receives your message and how it is perceived.

    Rural Faith

The primary difference in faith distribution between rural and urban communities is religious diversity.

Rural areas are predominantly Christian, with three-quarters or more of rural residents aligning with a Christian denomination. Understanding religion in rural America is about more than faith, though. It’s about community, too. Churches and community spaces play an increasingly important role in rural communities as resource hubs and civic gathering points.

    Rural Politics

What you think you know about politics in rural America is likely close to accurate. Republicans and conservatives have long dominated rural politics. However, rural politics increasingly defy demographic correlations. A 2020 study by Washington University in St. Louis suggests political affiliation isn’t determined by personal characteristics, but rather by geographic proximity to urban areas. Research found, on average, Republicans lived 20 miles from a city, independents lived 17 miles away, and Democrats lived 12 miles away.

    Rural Access

Access is not consistent across communities. Some areas face limits with broadband or signal quality. At the same time, younger rural audiences are increasingly using social platforms to stay informed and connected.

    Rural Workforce

The workforce reflects a mix of industries, including government at 18%, manufacturing at 13% and healthcare at 11%. That diversity matters when shaping messaging and outreach.
