In the spirit of transparency: An update on Hirons’ diversity, equity and inclusion efforts

In honor of Black History Month, we are sharing more information about the commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion we made last year.

We strive to represent our diverse range of clients, support our diverse team members and push our industry forward. One part of that ongoing commitment is a strategic DEI plan that was developed and shared with all employee-owners last fall.

The plan outlines both short- and long-term tactics to enhance company policies, operational procedures, company culture and internal/external communications. It is designed to motivate employees to participate in Hirons’ diversity programming and training as well as to foster a diverse and inclusive work environment for all employee-owners, regardless of how they identify.

Hirons’ Diversity Team affinity group transitioned into the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council, elevating its position as a key element of our agency’s overarching strategic plan and reinforcing our DEI commitment in the Hirons employee-owner handbook. The council consists of entry-, mid- and senior-level staff.

Goals for the newly formed DEI Council include:

  • Executing, measuring and optimizing Hirons’ DEI plan.
  • Reviewing company policies and procedures to ensure they are aligned with the plan.
  • Developing and coordinating DEI programs, events and trainings for employee-owners.
  • Consulting on agency communications to ensure they are aligned with the plan.
  • Promoting open agency positions on diverse networks.

We are grateful to have employee-owners who empower one another to bring their unique experiences, perspectives and cultural backgrounds to work every day. We know this isn’t a perfect answer – this work is never done. However, we are confident this is a step in the right direction.
