WHAT PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS DO YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS INDUSTRY?
It is important to be adaptable and open to viewing things through a different lens than your initial approach.
OUTSIDE OF THE OFFICE, WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR HOBBIES OR PASSIONS?
I enjoy hiking with my husband and our yellow lab, Jelly Bean, tending my vegetable garden, and creating quirky paintings.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE TIME OF DAY?
I like early mornings, especially in the winter when the air is crisp.
WHAT IS THE MOST MEANINGFUL PART OF YOUR JOB?
It’s a wonderful feeling to create something lovely and functional for our clients, to add value to their business and improve how they communicate their mission and values.
DID YOU HAVE ANY UNUSUAL JOBS BEFORE WORKING AT HIRONS?
I’ve worked at a shoe store, a cupcake shop, a funeral home, and a painting studio. And I’ve loved every single one of them!
WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST JOB?
My first job was at the flagship Shoe Carnival, selling steel toe boots in the men’s section.
WHAT’S ONE QUOTE THAT DEFINES YOU?
As an approach to creative thinking, I’ve written the following quote on the inside of every sketch book I’ve owned: “Reserve the right to have crappy ideas.” -Laura Simms
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE RESTAURANT IN TOWN?
My husband and I celebrate achievements and anniversaries at Delicia. We’re big fans of the atmosphere and thoughtful dishes.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE MOVIE OR BOOK?
My favorite book, and what I believe to be one of the best literary pieces, is Jane Eyre.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE PART OF WORKING AT HIRONS?
The snacks! Just kidding – I love the work atmosphere at Hirons. Everyone is encouraging and makes clear communication a priority.
