Get to know our account coordinator, Kelly Asiala.

HOW DID YOU BECOME INTERESTED IN THE INDUSTRY?
My junior year of college, I shadowed at an advertising agency in Fort Wayne to help see if I would be interested in corporate advertising/marketing or agency life. After the shadow, I was pretty positive I had a natural inclination toward the agency world. Then, I had a marketing internship at a steel mill, which solidified my interest in working at an agency.
HOW DID YOU BREAK INTO THE INDUSTRY AND LAND YOUR FIRST JOB?
Being an account coordinator is actually my first job! I got into the industry by making as many connections as possible through various Ball State alumni and asking them to have Zoom meetings with me. I met Deana and reconnected with Clare to stay up to date with what was happening at Hirons.
OUTSIDE OF THE OFFICE, WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR HOBBIES OR PASSIONS?
I work out 4-6 days per week and like to challenge myself to eat nutritious foods and have an overall healthy lifestyle. I am also trying to visit all the Indiana State Parks.
WHEN AND WHERE DO YOU HAVE YOUR BEST IDEAS?
My best ideas generally come from working with others to help create a joint great idea. Usually this is during a conversation or brainstorming how to solve the issue at hand.
WHAT’S ONE IMPORTANT TIP YOU WOULD SHARE WITH ANYONE LOOKING TO GO INTO THE AGENCY WORLD?
In my experience, it was extremely beneficial to get connected with agencies early in my job search. Get connected and stay connected by sending emails and reaching out to the agencies.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE TIME OF DAY?
Definitely the morning. I feel more focused and energized for the day at the start of the day.
WHAT IS THE MOST MEANINGFUL PART OF YOUR JOB?
I’m looking forward to facilitating the creation of successful marketing, advertising and branding with clients.
WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST JOB?
I worked at a coffee shop chain, Tim Hortons. Hirons is much better.
DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN THREE WORDS.
Ambitious, organized and social.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE MOVIE OR BOOK?
I love the Harry Potter books – I’m currently rereading them!
