FUERA DE LA OFICINA, ¿CUÁLES SON ALGUNOS DE TUS HOBBIES O PASIONES?
Going to concerts, comedy shows and new restaurants with friends and family. Cooking, thrifting, and listening to non-fiction books and podcasts.
WHAT’S ONE IMPORTANT TIP YOU WOULD SHARE WITH ANYONE LOOKING TO GO INTO THE AGENCY WORLD?
Network! The proximity principle is real. Connect with people who are doing the work you’d like to get into. Ask to meet over coffee, look for shadow opportunities and stay visible.
¿CUÁL ES TU HORA FAVORITA DEL DÍA?
I’m a morning person. I love waking up to see the sunrise when the house is quiet. It gives me a chance to think through my upcoming day. I’m also a big fan of bedtime, sinking into my bed and closing my eyes is the best feeling after a long day.
DID YOU HAVE ANY UNUSUAL JOBS BEFORE WORKING AT HIRONS?
Before coming to Hirons, I was a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST), specializing in open heart, vascular and thoracic surgery specialties. Previous to that, I worked in a comic book shop and was also called to organ procurement.
¿CUÁL ES UNA CITA QUE TE DEFINE? Do the best you can. Until you know better. Then when you know better, do better. – Mya Angelo
WHAT’S YOUR MOST MEMORABLE VACATION?
Going to New York with my family. We always have fun in the city, but some of our best memories were made in the spray of Niagara Falls, white water rafting in the Salmon River, and tent camping in the Catskill Mountains.
WHAT’S ONE THING YOU DO EVERY DAY AND CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT?
I start my morning with a cup of hot coffee. It’s a comforting transition out of bed and afterwards I feel ready to seize the day.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE TV SHOW?
I have a favorite handful of favorite shows: The Office, Parks and Rec, Schitt’s Creek, Shark Tank, and Storage wars are top of mind.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE BOOK?
My non-committal answer is that my favorite book is the next one in my queue. I am currently enjoying Nudge, written by Richard Thaler and Cass Sunstein. However, my most re-read book is Never Split the Difference, by Chris Voss.
WHAT PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS DO YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE INDUSTRY?
One needs to have the desire to listen, learn, inquire and adapt.
¿CUÁNDO Y DÓNDE TIENES TUS MEJORES IDEAS?
Any time I’m alone with my own thoughts, usually on a walk or commute.
